Proposal to Mellon for Exploratory Research: Identifying Factors of Success in CIC Institutional Repository Development

Introduction With the general support of the CIC members, the University of Michigan and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign have been working together to share ideas and accomplishments of their institutional repositories (IR) – Deep Blue and IDEALS. Their collaborative goals include creating interoperable systems and learning from one another’s mistakes and successes. They hope later to offer their knowledge to the CIC as a whole, thence to the UC system, the AAU, and the academic world.
